The only two i've tried, was just wondering what everybodys favourites were?
With little to no experience with wood, I set up both and only managed to catch an ember when doing the hand drill, the bow drill for me just kept breaking the string (a shoelace at the time!). Although I haven't managed to use either methods of friction fire lighting to make a fire yet as I fail to get past the ember stage.
What woods are best, in your opinion, for both of these methods?
