A fair question - I once tried a hammock set up without knowing how deep the poles were buried, where I fell asleep in the hammock off the ground but woke up with backside on the ground and the poles at alarming inward slant. Reason I ask is there's a lot of force placed on it by the hammock and several folks I've seen using the same system reported it failed because the posts were too shallow.
