I am going to forge a hammer head into a axe head . And while I was drawing out what I'm aiming for. I pondered on what temperature I should heat treat the finished axe . Any advice more than welcome .

Effectively the same as heat treating a knife.
You still have to get it to critical temperature before quenching.

sorry I've not looked before I typed again .Tempering heat was what I was after i.e will a temperature of 209c for a hour long soak do for a decent hardness before I sharpen it
