I've been looking at the rugged mountain and the rugged fjell(i think)styles. Does anyone have any opinions on these
Thanks in advance
Andrew

I've had the rugged mountain pants for over two years and are the best trousers I've ever bought for outdoorsy stuff. Absolutely bomb-proof. I've worn them for cutting trees down in the garden, bushcrafting, walking the Lairig Ghru (in foul weather) and climbing Lochnagar and they still look brand new!

Excellent quality, loads of pockets and built in gaiters (well, they hook onto your laces and you can tighten the hems). I doubt I'll have to replace them for a long time but if I lost them, I'd buy a new pair with no hesitation.

I have two pairs of rugged Fjell and am thinking of adding a pair of rugged mountain before they too are discontinued - you'll be lucky to find remaining rugged fjell.

I wore a pair deer stalking in Scotland, crawled through heather and spagnum moss, they dried quickly nd showed no sign of wear. I got snagged on barbed wire and they were OK too.

I think they are the absolute nuts. My only complaint (ish) is that they are designed for Scandinavians - not short ar5ed plump celts like Welshmen, but they are absolutely brilliant.

Grab a pair (or two like I did) while you can.

Halglof rugged pants really are about as good as you can get, mine have been worn rock climbing, winter mountaineering, bushcraft, and countless miles of walking.
Bought a pair about 4 years ago, lost some weight, bought another pair, really are as good as everyone sais, and they still look like new!
I have never heard a bad word said about them, and the gaiter thing is great.
All i can say is Buy, Buy, Buy a pair or two! really!

I've used Haglofs pants for many years, I've found the rugged Fjell model bombproof as others have said. The design, material and construction is second to none. The only fly in the ointment is that they tend to get holes burnt in if you spend much time near open fires..

I've had a pair of the Haglofs Rugged Mountains' since they came out. I've used them for bushcrafty/outdoor/mountaineering and climbing and they are really bombproof.
When looking for a replacement, I bought a pair of Norrona Dovre/Svalbard heavy duty hybrid pants which are very similar in materials, style and build. Although more expensive these fit me better (being tall and slim) and are more comfortable to wear.

Rugged mountain pants - very well designed and sewn together but the "rise" (ooh missus) is quite low and they are quite a tight, trendy fit, which is a pity because they can chafe...As a result I hardly ever wear mine.

I find in general that Haglofs outdoor gear is too tight and trendy to be truly comfortable in all conditions. Same goes for all their trousers.
