... released a video called "10survival tips that could save your life..." on YouTube. one point he addresses is an accident he had recently due to his boot laces of one boot getting caught on the hooks of the other boot. this feature is commonly found on many boots and i've to agree with him that it's a stupid one -- i once had a pair of "meindl" boots with the same feature and tripped quite a few times, incl. shooting head-first down the aisle in a bus....(tucking the laces into the boots as learned during my time in uniform didn't work as they always came out again). since then i only buy boots without hooks (=eyelets only)!

rant over -- i hope it helps others to stay safe!

Yes. I got mine caught the same way. They just caught and fortunately nothing bad happened . It was enough to get my attention. that was about four pairs ago. The boots I buy are all like that. the first thing I do when I get new is to squash the two top inward facing hooks. I only do the top one on each side as the the next one down is out of the way. I am glad this got mentioned and it was thoughtless of me not to. I guess I just forgot. I will keep it fresh now and mention it. Thanks. x

I put the lace in and crimp the hook. just enough so the lace can slide but squashed enuf so nothing can get into the gap and break your neck. x
