Hi,

Today the Government launched a consultation about their plans to ban Ninja swords. This can be found here:

Ninja swords: legal definition and defences
We are seeking views on our proposed legal description of ninja swords to be in scope of the list of prohibited weapons.
www.gov.uk

Their proposed definition will ban straight single edged fixed blades between 14-24 inches in length that have a tanto or reversed tanto style point.

Will this ban your favourite, sword, bushcraft tool, gardening tool, Seax etc?

Please take part and give your views.

You haven't read the consultation call have you? - that's exactly what they want, help in defining what a Ninja sword is.
No, I never click on those governmental links, the english language they use are too difficult. I struggle understanding governmental language even in my own language.

How about banning the culture that makes these ridiculous fantasy weapons cool? Personally I don't mind them banning things no sensible person would even want to hang on their wall, that is if they even exist in significant numbers so long as it draws their attention away from functional and useful blades.

hell
It seems like all this is nothing less than the systematic disarming of the population under the ruse of public safety. I am just reading the Government consultation to ban rolling pins and frying pans.

In the end they have to ban even bicycles (or change how tyres are made) because tyre spokes can be made into shanks. Meaning they can never ban enough objects to stop violence. If everything is banned there is still sticks and stones out in the nature.

Is there any chance, particularly as this doesn’t affect you in any way, that you stop trolling? It’s tedious.

Maybe a picture would help you? The government are seeking views on what the legal definition of a ninja sword should be.

@Nice65 Just scroll over if there´s something yo don´t like to read or put me on the ignore-list.
UK is getting so ludicrous with all the banning that it starts to look more like a comedy show than a country. Nanny state as americans put it.

The department in charge of banning things that can be used to do harm shouldn't run out of work until everything is made out of sponge.
Edit: but then they'll just move on to choke hazards

This is still just a call for input, on a law that won’t affect anyone outside the UK. In fact it will likely never affect anyone on here.

BTW I actually knew a young man who has a banning order of some kind on owning knives except for cooking knives iirc. Can't remember the details but he's had two knife collections seized over the years despite being only just over 18. The last time was after the police stopped him from running down the street chasing a guy with his samurai sword. He was a w'anchor who was convinced he'd be stabbed to death before teaching 40.

Herman, in the interest of forum harmony, can you please take your own advice and scroll on over threads about UK laws.

By this point it is safe to say you won’t like what you read and you will feel it necessary to post inflammatory criticism. That you do not read the legislation or consultation documents means that your criticism is (usually) not constructive or helpful in moving the thread forward. You frequently move on from criticism of law, to government, to country, which is irritating to folk that live here, even if they agree with you on the effectiveness of the law.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
Chris
