Going Lighter....

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
BTW - I love the idea of someone bushcrafting with a cauldron - it's got a real Hogwarts vibe to it!

Or maybe:

"Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."

and we should all know the chorus...

There are two portable cotton lavvus on the market, where you can light an open fire in:

Tortuga Kohte with 20 cm Erdstreifen (earth flap),
4 parts, 4 to 6 persons.
See it in the video"Kohtenaufbau auf Zeit".

And the lighter option "Tschum 4P",
2 parts, 2 to 4 Persons.

They aren't ultra light, off course, but portable for the group they are constructed for.

Sat around the campfire mumbling "It will be a cold day in hell before I buy an Orange rucksack no matter how light it is."
.

I was that man.

I still am sort of...
My sky-blue vintage Cobmaster backpack came to a compromise with a spray can of green acrylic.
Replaced the aluminium frame with plastic pipe and whilst not ultra-light by any means for a 67L capacity pack its weight of 1380 grams puts it in interesting territory. Doubly so as they still appear on ebay for around £20.
