Can anyone suggest good gloves in leather and wool for sub-zero conditions?

Thanks to Mr. Mears, I have developed an unnatural obsession with Hestra guide gloves. I would love some for an alpine trip in February, but know very well that I can't afford £70 gloves. Any suggestions for good alternatives? They'll be used for snowshoeing, skiing and campcraft type stuff.

Mr Mears sells Swedish army leather over-mits for about £15 which are great quality
and work briliantly teamed up with boiled wool surplus mits from ebay!
Cheers.
Chris.

So he does. Not bad, they would go nicely over my ragwool Glomitts. The only problem is I'm just not a fan of mittens. I realise they're essential when the temperature really drops, but I'm not expecting anything less than -10 and really want to go with gloves if I can.

Thought about using wool liner gloves in combination with leather gloves?
More flexibility and if the liner gets wet, you take them out so they dry very quick :)
No need to go "specially made for it" either, just use tight fitting wool gloves and slightly larger leather ones.
