giant puff ball tinder issue...

i have a pile of puff for tidner...about a year old.
been trying to use with a flint and steel, mangeing to get sparks to land on it, the leave a little black dot, were they landed but none last longengh to get an ember...

any one know what i can do to make it work?..

Some of these spark catchers need to be lixivated (boiled in hard wood ashes) or given a dose of saltpetre.

Bound to be someone along who's fixed these fungi in particular.

see if we still have any saltpetre or chile-petre in the garrage....
dont have 24hrs to let it lixivate for...
