Thought I would let you see some pics of my new Gene Ingram. I was lucky in that I contacted him on the off chance and he had a spare blade he wasn't sure what to do with. End result I got it in 2 weeks when his waiting list is September at the minute. He made the handles similar to the 20b I have already but still different.

Anyway i'll get on with it:

They look pretty good together

The lanyard is the product of my new found braiding obsession.
Again I can't fault Gene's work or his service. There has been lots of discussion on steel etc he uses but at the end of the day all his knives are fantastic (I'm saying that because this and the 20b are D2  )

Nice Knife there Bill, I like the Braid as well :-D . A good knot for finishing a braid is a Matthew Walker. I dont know how well it would work on leather though  .

It might be an idea to have a word with Schwert on the Matthew Walker side of life since he works with leather braid a fair bit by the looks of it. :)

I have never used a matthew walker to terminate braid but I cannot see why it would not work well. So many knots too little time.

I generally terminate short knife lanyards with a crown and wall knot. Neat and solid. I already sent tenbears a tutorial link for that but here is one

A cover knot like this works great too, but there must be hundreds of options here.

Nice braid on a nice knife. I love my SLK.

Bill ,thats a peach.
I intend to get a Gene Ingram knife when funds permit.
I love the clean and simple understated lines.

I can't fault the D2 but I don't have much to compare it to. People seem to think the S30V is better but it is fairly academic.

I know the scaleless one you mean, not sure how it would feel in your hand but they are razor sharp little knives.

Just thinking as a neck knife it would be slimmer and slightly lighter.

I have a scaleless version of a smaller pocket knife from Gene and my preference is to the version with scales. The handle is short so a bit of extra width makes handling far easier IMO.

The scaleless is in this image on the right and is identical (except it is A2) to the little pocket next to it with green micarta.

I think my preference in the SLK configuration would be to scales also. The weight difference would not be much but the handling would be vastly improved I believe.

I have no complaints for D2, Gene knows this steel well.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
The #7 is also appealing and perhaps more useful than the SLK (but then i don't really need another knife i just want one :-D )

I just had another look and Gene has 2 knives available at the minute. One is a naked slk and the other is a 13a with desert ironwood handles both look great and no waiting time!

He might put a handle on the slk for you?

That Naked SLK in S30 looks great....I would be tempted especially if you wanted a necker only. I like the scales but Gene added filework to the naked SLK.....no.....I still like some scales.....

But wait......only $125....):
