I'm looking at purchasing the GB Small Splitting Axe and wondered if anyone has one, or indeed even used one.

I have a GB Small Forest Axe and used to own the GB Wildlife Hatchet as well as the Axe Sharpening Stone and am pleased with the overall quality of GB products.

I want a portable axe that's better at splitting than the SFA. (The Small Splitting Axe has roughly the same dimensions as the SFA.)

Your views please.

I've got one and use it regularly to split wood for the burner at home. I wouldn't really consider it a bushcraft tool as it really does only split things but it does do that extremely efficiently - both one-handed and using both.

Yes, I'm a happy customer!:D

ditto the above, use it for splitting at home. None of the logs we get are big enough to justify the full size splitter, but the hatchet size is perfect. Can use it pretty well one handed too.

Just to say there is a small splitting axe (which i have) and a splitting hatchet.i looked at a lot of sites to see what the difference was between the two and as far as i could see the axe was longer than the hatchet that was all.I did find that the info available was conflicting and incorrect,as i was told the small splitting axe was the same length as the SFA but it longer and a good bit heavier .

I also looked at the Hatchet, I think it is £5 cheaper, but in all honesty would prefer the slightly longer handle. The reason behind this is I find the SFA a better tool than the Wildlife Hatchet for what I use it for, just my opinion of course. :)
