I am thinking of buying a Garmin Edge 800 GPS for cycling and general walking.
Anyone use one and are they worth the cash as they are not cheap?

I have an iphone with a plenty of apps for navigation and loads of medical info on it. Problem with the iphone is battery life and they are not terribly robust. Although to be fair mine has had a rather hard life in the woods and canoeing.
Nope not the iphone bud, your gps on the iphone is based on your phone signal i think!!
You would need a dedicated gps, the 800 is the new one specific to cycling! If your gonna use it for hiking etc look at the Garmin Gpsmap 62s, st or stc! I nearly bought one the other day been looking for ages and there is some good bundle deals on with GB 1:50000 OS!!
