have spent most of the day working on this.
I had a set of wood carving tools of my good lady for Christmas so thought i would have a go at carving a kuska, got a burr and started by shaping the basic bowl, then shaped the handle and carved some basic shaped detail, next started shaping the bowl a little more before i started to hollow it out. found a crack in the wood, started to cut it out on the optimistic hope that it would be shallow and not really effect the rest. have now gone at least 6 mm into my bowl and still it goes on. any advise???? really frustrated as i have spent all day getting this far.

These things happen, to the best of us.
Keep going and finish it, when it is dry and the split opens up you could always make a piece of wood to fit in it to seal. A the very worst you will have a cup to drink cold liquids from, wax makes a good sealer. Have you got any photos.
