Ahh fruit leathers, a sure sign that summer is coming to an end 
I made some hawthorn leather last year and mixed some crab apples in with it, I think it improves the flavour and sets just as well. My oven has a bread warming function (i think thats what its called) and i just bung it in there overnight and usually dries it out pretty good.
