Forthcoming catapult ban?

I fear a ban is coming. I have noticed a thread of negative catapult stories being put out by the BBC, one on there today. Kids being naughty with catapults and breaking windows etc is nothing new but now its on mainstream news. I've noticed that when the Govt want to ban something they lead with a series of BBC negative stories, e.g. crossbows.

There seems to be a persistent drive to ban and remove anything seen as a potential weapon, based more on prejudice than factual data. Never let the facts get in the way of a politician or newspaper. It's not just an anti-hunting thing, maybe its a fear of social unrest/collapse.
Living abroad it just exact the same here ,works the same way .

Incredible but entirely predictable , I mean wow just wow. How pathetic, this is not a serious country anymore, I don’t like it and i no longer recognise it. Our forefathers, ancestors definitely wouldn’t too.

Funny when you talkabout catapults; this is a catapult in my language:

And this I call a slingshot.

Can someone point me to a statement of intent from anyone who might be or could be, involved in the imposition of a catapult ban?

I’d be interested even if it was a law maker just musing on the subject.

ANY official statement of distaste/opinion?

I suppose if we all shout and protest loud enough we COULD bring the subject to someone’s attention and thereby start an opposition to catapults but I’ve not seen anything yet.

It is indeed conjecture, based on past events and how similar the current suspicion matches past experience. As Ghillieman observes, there is precedent for it already in Europe.
I heard somewhere (I forget where) that there are some kind of restrictions on slingshots in France now because they were being used to successfully harass the police during one of their riots.
