Lots of pictures and names of flowers, organised by season:

Quite a nice website actually, it has a rather helpful tree ID
section with pictures of all the bits of the tree as well which
is a huge bonus:-

There's also a nature diary:-

What's on including plant and fungi walks / craft events
http://www.hainaultforest.co.uk/3What's%20on.htm#Country%20Park

Main website is http://www.hainaultforest.co.uk/

I think this is a 'definitely bookmark' sort of site and well worth a visit.

Wow they've put a lot of work into that website recently, well worth the effort too, glad you posted and made me revisit it.

I went on one of the Winter tree identification walks there, almost 2 years ago, it was very informative, I highly recomended it if they do it again. Must try to make some of the other events there, things came up and I missed the Spring ones.

Ah was it you that posted a wee while ago about their plant walks?
Tempted but it does involve crossing London going West which is always a bit grim.
Assuming I am thinking of the right place - near Heathrow yes?

I think it probably was, I've certainly posted about them before, a good free resource which is great for slow learners like me who probably need to go back a few times to take it all in.

It's in Redbridge, sort of East London leaning towards Essex.

Hainault is on the central line, and it looks like countryside. Not sure how you get from the tube to the forest but forest is worth it. Great selection of flora and fungi and there is a petting zoo/farm there too.

Also out that way on the wall at ongar station there is a colony of European scorpions. They are little pinky white non venomous and they are visible in warm dry weather.

I used to bunk school to go out to epping forest. I went school in kensington, but been able to get to the green stuff that easily was too much of a temptation.
