A few pictures from last weekend. There is a forest about 100 kms away from here where you can find lots of huge, old trees. Most of them are dying, but still spectacular. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

OOH! Right, i am loading the truck and saw's as we speak, just got to drive to Sctland, pick up Goatboy and we should be with you by the morning! Just kidding, we would probably just pick up a few bits of deadfall, light a fire camp and talk rubbish!

It's quite in the middle, between Kassel and Hofgeismar. It's called Urwald Sababurg, you can find information about it on google. It's the oldest nature reserve in Hessen.

@Ivan... before you jump into the car please note that most of those trees are hollow and have almost no branches anymore. I guess it would end up with lots of hard work for a small pile of half rotten wood

People forget how important to an ecosystem the older dead or dying trees are - as well as being magnificent to look at of course

Briliant photos - thank you!

Keep coming back to this every time it pops up :)
Would be stunning to spend a night amongst those beasts especially watching them at night by firelight.

Would not fancy camping too close to one of those mind as just one of those limbs would mean splat..
