Years ago, a lot of years ago, we had a kind of 'show us your hobo stove' photo filled thread.

Seeing @pwb 's thread reopened brought it to mind.

Those hobo stoves were fun to make, fun to develop, and good to use too.

I think photobucket's change rather killed the thread, but there must still be a lot of the hobo stoves about.

Mine hasn't been used in a while, but I'm tempted to dig it out and do a brew up, just because I can :)
The hobo thread is one of my favourites @Toddy
I've still got my old hobo stove too. I'll have to introduce my two lads to the joys of hobo stoving. At age 9 and 11 I'm sure they'll enjoy....I hope.

On that note; I've used the search engine, and I have found the older threads.
Yes, there are a lot of missing photos, but there are an awful lot that are still visible :)

So,

I still like the hobo stove; they're such simple, practical things. Pleasing somehow in their fettled to suit the individual sort of thing too.

I've been making a few aluminium lids recently and I'm looking forward to testing some 3d printed forms a friend made for me. I usually use 18mm ply but the plastic ones are very precise.

These are for vintage Swiss canteen cups. M32 and M84.

Used copper harness rivets to attach handle and a small copper name plate held on by small copper pop rivets. 20231224_161222.jpg20231224_161252.jpg
I'm going to try blinging it up by machine turning the surface Spirit of St Louis style.
Easy to do using a bit of dowel with a leather end glued on and some valve grinding paste.
Atb,
Pete
