fly fishing in the sea

going to try my hand at fly fishing off the rocks for pollock, meant to be really good sport, they fight like the clappers and are good to eat as well, sounds like a win win situation to me.

anyone tried it ?

Yip! i have many years ago its top fun and your right they fight like billy o !
The top fly and the bottom one should do the damage ! use a sinking line and put a split shot just above the fly to get it down fast, that will get results

thanks for that, i've heard that they hit....BAM !......then dive for the seaweed, got to keep the rod up fast !, i've also heard that they can run at speed and DO NOT try and hold the line ! use your hand as a brake on the reel.

Yip thats a bit of an under statement ! just make sure your kit is up to the job, clean and grease it before and after ! use 8lb to 10lb tip you will need it !
What rod are you going to use ?

7-8 weight 9ft Wichwood, 10lb leader with about a 10ft long leader.

rising / high tide just off the rocks over the seaweed beds........can't wait to give it a go. Might be worth trying for the maccy's as well ?

after watching some of the youtube vids, i noticed that many of the flys used for pollock were big orange jobs ( zonkas ? ) so i had a mate of mine make these up for me
