Well finally got this one done
made from 6mm O1 stock using my DSP concept (originally in 4mm)
to make a light but sturdy Bushcraft knife
the original concept was a 25deg Scandi grind with a full Distal Taper to 2mm and then convex off the grind line to blend into the side and reduce the scandi hight by half an origianl idea i thought
...... mmm no seens SWC had been doing it for a while
tho i did Fink it up on my own
so the new concept again thought up by me but probably already been done some where i just havent seen it
yet ( Que 1000 links )
a Thick Full flat to remove the bulk etc and a 25deg scandi on the end trying to give the change of bevel at a thickness of 2mm then up to the 6mm spine
i have tryed it on my [UBlack N white necker in 3/16" down to a 1.5mm edge and it worked well slices and feels very nice in the hand
Oh a full taper tang to 2mm as well and a bt of a play with alu and carbon fibre tubes for teh pins
Walnut scales from some Flintlock blanks at teh Car Booty
original Blank weight was 255gms
Knife now complete is 140gms
comparison a Woodlore inst is 200gms a Spyderco Bushy is 175 gms and BRs PFK that this is based on is 200gms
balance is just behind the 2 bolster pins
next t oa 4mm blank
Just in case Orcs are out
a few minor cock ups but turned out well and a hybrid grind i think i will like
