Carved my first successful spoon today!
Made from seasoned Beech in around 4 hours, would've been quicker, but it's a darn hard wood! Had to stop a few times to hone tools :p
Finished with Grape Seed Oil, prefer Walnut Oil, but in case someone with a nut allergy uses it some when, decided against it...
Thong loop tied with a True Lovers Knot.
Very Pleased with it!

Top job! You picked a darn difficult bit of wood for it, but hey it came out really well! Better than my first spoon, thats for sure.
A word of warning though, spoon carving is highly addictive!
Looking forward to the next one!
Cheers

Thank you so much! Really enjoyed doing it, but won't get a chance to do another for a while... A-levels, yay. :p
Made a few knives last year, one very nice i thought, but gave it to someone before i could take any pics :(
Again, thanks for the kind words, friend!

Excellent job for your first spoon; you'll always look at it, handle it and use it with pride and the memory of its creation.

I usually work with birch as it all I can get; that beech is lovely.

Nice job , I'm embarrassed I've only made about four and that is way better, mine all look like they have been made by monkeys.

It is a lovely wood, Carved a spatula for my dad the other day, which was nicer in some respects as there was more heartwood on show. But alas, he left before I got the chance to take any half decent snaps :(
