First camp at new permission...

As per title, a few good friends managed to steal the weekend away for a camp at my new permission, once in the wood we soon realised that the site needs some serious clearing and drainage work,but for this trip we just set about hacking a way in to create an area that we could call home! After a couple of hours chainsawing and dragging etc,we acheived our goal!
The pics as usual do the talking, we had a really lovely weekend and it was nice to have a goal.

This was a pre curser to next weekends meet, where hopefully, all hands on deck will open up the wood to show it's full potential.

As ever any comments/question's good or bad always gratefully received.

Great weekend in a great spot with great company I am a lucky boy
Its a really lovely wee wood, needs some TLC esp on the drainage front but Ivan has plans to sort that
Its not been touched for years so wild as they come
Buzzards are very lively in the area !

For those attending the meet next weekend you could do worse than take a machete and wellies They will be useful

Thanks, for the comments guys, i am a bit of a jammy so and so! Must be my charm! It's a great spot, which if i don,t muck it up! Have great plans for.

Good point, Steve, any one coming next weekend, please bring wellies, especially if you want to explore, as the water courses have been allowed to run riot, with all the years of neglect.

Also, some have mentioned guns, the lady who owns the wood, is a bit anti guns and killing anything, you guys are welcome to bring them as i have plenty of permission elsewhere and all within a short distance.

Thanks Stringmaker, that is Nutmeg, she is a pleasure to have around camp and at home, she was born on the 1st December 2012, and is wise beyond her years, a right woods dog, takes herself off to bed when she is tired, and hides any food surplus to requirements for later on! Think she quite likes having her photo taken too.

It's been years since i had a dog,lost my last one (a black lab) in a custody battle, so glad i got her, she is a gem!

Hi Biker, the lady in question, had romantic visions of yurts all over the place, but soon changed her mind at the cost, early days mate, but i would love a log cabin in there, make take some time but realistically the most likely place i have encountered yet for such a thing, and don't worry if and as we know that is a massive word, it comes to fruition, you will be the first to be invited to stay!

Oh yeah, not in the Dartmoor National Park boundary, about 200 metres out!

Shewie and Fishfish, i would love to claim the glory for the pot hanger, but a good mate of mine showed me how it was done, i have made one myself, but seem to take his everywhere with me and it works brilliantly, such a simple idea, fully height adjustable and simply swing it around when your food is done.
