Finally got around to finishing my first pair of moccassins

Last year i did a LOT of courses with Wilderness Survival Skills (i really mean a lot like all of them)
One of the courses i did was his moccassin workshop
Last week i finally finished them
And here they are
(Bad pic but only one i have)
Hand softened buck skin
All hand sewn with artitifical sinew
Im not sure of the time taken as i have been a bit sporadic in my working on them dipping in and out as the inspiration/motivation has struck me

Im already thinking what i can do differently on the next pair

The puckering is a bit rubbish (i like many others am my worse critic) but im pleased with it.
I am looking forward to wearing them at Joe's next year

I also used Joe's template to make a very similar pair. Like you I over puckered one over the other and was recently wondering about unpicking one and re-doing it. I detailed all the steps on a blog if anyone wants to cross reference http://austinlill.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/moccasins-aka-bushcraft-booties.html I reckon some type of hybrid mukluk might be a bit of fun/ a sanity curer!

I havent done the shoe goo bit yet
Next stage is soaking them and wearing them until the buckskin dries so i have the foot shape to apply it to.
I've high hopes for them.

I had a good butchers at these last weekend.

The time, care and patience that has gone be into them really shows.

Still got plenty buck skin so may have to make a replacement sheath for the mora out of it.
Or possibly something else.
Im waiting for a warm(ish) day for the shoe goo job so i dont gas myself

Yeah, good idea on the Goo.....it is heavily scented!
