I finally finished (well, almost!) my first knife and sheath. I still have to dye the sheath and polish the blade more. 3 /3/4" long blade, 3mm 01 tool steel with rosewood ( I think) scales and brass pins. It's a simple but strong knife but I am happy with it so far.

I have some Tandy brown dye but its water based and the colour is a bit light. What would you recommend as I want to get a fairly deep brow/black, sort of antique colour?

Mind you I have already started :D on some new blades, similar pattern but a bit longer and in 4mm steel; another one 3"long blade in 3mm and a third one 2" long in 2mm. That'll keep me off the streets for a while :D

I did get a bit carried away, made those as well :D

A small arrow head, a blade for a left handed crooked knife and two carving knives blades.

Hi Penvisser. Yes I'll happy to do it, no problems. Just tell me what you want , as to length and curve of the blade if you want a curve, and I'll send it to you. It will be good to get feedback on its use. I was a tool maker in my twenties and still enjoy working with metals as well as wood so it is also interesting for me to do this. :)

Thanks mate, it seems to me the size of your knife is fine to me, it has to be rghthanded though.

I made one myself, pics also here on the forum, but the blade is to straight angled, so a curve would be nice.

Best regards, Penvisser

Ok Penvisser. My blade is 3" long and I'll make a mirror image for a right handed blade. Do you want the blade curved along its length, or probably more useful, with a curve, in say the last inch or so, not too exagerated? There so many different curves you could put on these blades.

Thanks Snufkin  How are you anyway?
I am going to have to make another blade. On hardening, this one has developed what looks to me like a stress crack at the bend between the blade and the tang, just where the reflection is on the photo. I tried to force it to see if it would break but it has not, but I'd rather not take the risk. Will delay by a few days I am affraid, Jan
