Hi,
I ve heared so much about the Fallkniven F1 so I decided to buy one from Trek Direct.
Upon its arrival today I have noticed a 4mm type of hair line crack along the spine of the knife :( where the laminate is so I was going to ask you guy's if anyone has had the same  .
I have e-mailed Trek Direct and told them although I won't expect a responce until tomorrow.
Do you think I should send it back or do you think it won't make any difference to its strength
As I say this is a first for me buying a laminated blade so any advise would be great ;)

Definitely send it back. It's a shame that one slipped through Fallknivens QC. They are excellent knives.

IMO opinion the F1 is a great knife and really stands up to a lot of abuse, trust me I've tried it out. Once you get your new one (minus the crack) I'm sure it will serve you well. Throws a really good shower of sparks from a ferro rod too.

I must say I am very surprised. I have handled a lot of Fallkniven from the WM1 to the NL1 and I havent seen anything like this before. In fact I havent had the need to send a single one back.

I'm sure Peter (the owner of Fallkniven) will make it right if you dont get a satisfactory reply from the place you bought it.

I'v got an F1 and had one for about a year now. I'v never heard or seen of what you describe......its strange. I wouldnt settle for such an imperfection - send it back to Trek-Direct n get another!

I only just recently noticed the lamination when 2 black lines showed up - black, i figured from a years worth of rabbit guts, resin and other bio-mass.

Didn't Fallkniven's owner Peter fall ill recently and he was looking to sell the company? Perhaps why they'v had problems with deliveries?

Peter had a couple of heart attacks IIRC, he put Fallkniven up for sale (US$2mil) but there were no takers. It seems though he has decided to continue with the business and has released some new knives (TK5 & TK6) + he will be working on a slipjoint.

All the knives from Fallkniven are made in Japan anyway, the sheaths (leather) are made in Spain and the Kydex ones in the US. Basically this is due to the extreme level of tax in Sweden that would price Fallkniven out of the market if they were made there.

Oh, did I say I was a Fallkniven fan  :D
