definately a stinkhorn. believe it or not you can eat it before the fruit emerges from the egg sac! Stinks of decaying meat so that it attracts flies to disperse its spores from the sticky cap.

It did stink very much! So yer think it was as you described.
Don't actually like mushrooms at all but am very interested in them from a wild food perspective.
