I've bought one of the above for knife sharpening and I'd appreciate advice on how to use it properly. It has a metal like plate on one side and, I think, ceramic on the other.
Cheers

Hi Nobby,

You use it like any other small sharpening stone in terms of motion. There is some discussion as to whether to use them dry or wet (water or spit not oil) so it's up to you to find out which you prefer.

The metal looking side is the diamond side and as a word of warning it can take off a fair bit of metal. The other darker and lightly ribbed side is, as you guessed, ceramic and is used like a finer grit stone would be and to prepare the blade for stropping.

Hope that helps,

Bam. :D

Thanks for that information.
I've read all the articles but I'm not very good at sharpening at all.
I've settled on my PacPal and Spyderco folder as the knives I am going to keep.
Thanks again
