Aww, did t you have bitty off mummy today? Or are you just being obtuse and misunderstanding that an old man does not have the inclination to take part in this sort of farce?
The army has changed from when we served, they have a softer approach and it was a bit of sarcastic piece of humour!

I'm fairly sure Damascus was just making a joke about the change in attitude within the forces that maybe have gone too far. I don't think he was having a go at you at all.

Only if you want to, if you get too upset, ask that nasty corporal PTI, to have time out in your safe space, can’t have you being upset. All about your mental health wellbeing!
Back in the day mental health comprised of being encouraged to hit the booze, a practice of which post service was deleteriously continued by many for some to end up living on the streets. That said I for one am pleased the military is at last taking mental health seriously, for not only can it save folk, it can also contribute to the conservation of an effective fighting force.

I think with some ex serviceman it will be the case of, fix zimmer frames and charge!
Ex forces myself and at my age I wouldn’t last ten minutes on a battle field, yes I can still shoot, running over a hill in full kit, at times with my knees I can hardly run for a bus, we’re doomed, doomed I tell you, captain Mannering!
Quite, but with no disrespect (I'm in exactly the same boat myself) you're still a perfectly serviceable barrier technician, one who already knows which end of the gat is dangerous and which badges you need to throw one up for. This allows for a younger, fitter fellow to do something other than stag on the gate.

There's method in the madness, somewhere.

I was MD'd but if they need someone to prove that our troops actually went and would still go near the frontline I'd go just to shut Trumpty Dumpty up. ''Muppet''
Not that having PTSD from travelling to 2 conflicts would get me a pass, Mind you they might call me up with the state of our Forces nowadays.
With Thanks for all those who served, serve and have to blinking live with us still.
Cheers

Actually a fan of biscuit browns too. Not so much the constipation... but it served its purpose. Biscuit fruits and oatmeal blocks though... banging.
A chunk of cheese-possessed and tinned pig burgers, with a dash of cat-sick pate spread on the top of an AB biscuit. Can't beat it.

I do miss the one-pint hot chocolate sachets and the old teabags the size of a double duvet though
