What term do you use (or can you make up) to describe a good edge? 'Shaving' or 'hair-popping' come to mind as obvious starters.

How about 'blazing sharp',...no  ...only me then, can anyone do better?

Sharp enough to cut a breeze into several zephyrs.......

Painlessly sharp (if you have ever cut youself with a truely sharp blade you will know that it does not hurt....for a while!

Oooooooooooh! sharp

Sh1tty sharp.

As in "Sh1t, that's sharp" whilst clutching a finger now dripping claret.

No? Just me then

I call it “told you sharp” simply because when I tell people not to mess with my knives as they are very sharp, they invariably run their finger over or down the blade and cut themselves. I end up saying, “told you it was sharp”

As sharp as the wife's tongue (Not mine you understand)

Sharper than a guardmans creases

Sharp enough to split an infinitive

Sharp enough to cut a rug (To dance: ie;dance about holding the bleeding apendage shouting 'blinkin' flip!' or words to that effect)

Or as Horatio Kane once said to John J Rambo ' THATS Sharp, what do you hunt, Elephants?'

When I was a kid I remember my dad complaining that his saw (or could've been a chisel or plane I guess) was blunt. I think the phrase he used was that it was "about as sharp as my dick!" I think the tool was blunt anyway

Terry Pratchett's character "Death",
carries a scythe that is so sharp you can see the blue sparks of split atoms, falling to the ground as it moves through the air. I can't recall if it described as having a certain "noun" of sharpness - but its a good excuse for a re-read!

there comes a point somewhat beyond shaving sharp when there is insufficient resistance in forearm meat to float a blade sufficiently to cut forearm hair.

or "oh buck and fugger that's sharp, i'm leaking"

good thread!:You_Rock_
