did a fair bit of rhody bashing when I was with the NT. I was told at the time (by the head forester, 35 years experience etc) that it gave off toxic fumes when burnt. However, I have subsequently been told that it's safe to burn when seasoned. My eyebrows can attest to how hot it burns (teach me to get to close to the bonfire...).

One assumes you had the landowners permission?

Of course, signed in triplicate and laminated after a risk assessment was undertaken and full certificated PPE provided...

It burns well, i'm eradicating lots at work, smoke is a bit acrid though and maketh my eyes to water

Aha iirc that would be the carbolic acid caused by the carbon monoxide in the smoke reacting with your tears to make it, its Why no one can get used too standing in smoke, nomatter how "hard" they are, they always cry.
