yep, the fishing combo set is great, i've used it for spinning for pike, up to 8lbs, off the rocks for mackeral, and even just float fishing. Get one and bung it in the bot of your car....can't go wrong.

i'd go for a float rod to start you can do just about anything with it. if your near the sea then go for a cheap carp rod because sea fish are thick

Cheers mate, I'll be picking one up tonight on the way home.

EDIT Wait hang on there are like 5 sets! Spoilt for choice.

i never used them glowsticks just nip into a tackle shop get some waggler floats, some split shot and a pack of size 14 hooks and you'll be well away

I bought one of the tele rod/reel sets from them a year or two ago.

It's held up well and the quality is very good for the price - cork handles, multiple ball bearing reels etc. I would say it is better than the Fladen or Shakespeare combo sets that cost slightly more.

One thing to watch is the casting weight - the one I got casts 40-80g and for typical bushcraft fishing that is a bit much.

If you want something nicer (and smaller), everybody recommends the Shimano Exage tele, which is now available in a new 2010 model (about £55 for the 210 7ft model). I gave into temptation and bought one a the weekend, along with a Shimano reel (£20 for the entry level job). It is carbon, not glass and really, really good.

from the rocks and rough ground a 10 footer is ok, but needs to be a heavier duty (ground fishing). when im around the welsh coast in the rough grounds i use a 13ft 6oz+ casting, but for spinning off the rocks i use a 2.5lb test curve carp rod. hope that helps
