Has any one got any experience in dyeing webbing? I was going to get some green dye just to take the Sandy Yellow out.

Any tips hints etc welcome.

Darkest Scotland,
I've a feeling that modern military webbing is Nylon, Polyester or polyproplene so ordnianry commercial dyes probably wont work.

Paint might, infact i'm sure www.usmcpro.com have a range of paints (search for weapons paint) designed for weapons can be applied to webbing too but will be permanent.

Hope this is of some use

from what I've been told food dye is suppose to be good for dying webbing (appariently some forms of dye and paint can melt the material)

Well. Finally got my hands on some Acid Dye that I was told would work on 1000d Cordura Nylon that most webbing is made from.

All that was needed was

1 x Beer Keg with lid cut off top with an angle grinder

6 x Packets of Jacquard Nylon dye

3 litres of malt vinegar

1 kg of salt

Large gas ring for boiling the 20 litres of water in the beer keg

One copy of FHM to read while waiting for water to boil

Added dye to boiling water, added vinegar. Vest went in and simmered for 30min. Vest came out and rinsed till clear water.
