A few months ago I came across the Legermuseum (Army museum) website, where they have some cool pictures of SF personal kit. Amongst the pics was the personal survival kit of Major Kroon, who was awarded MWO (Militaire Willems Orde) - something like your VC.

I thought it would be interesting to show what's in it :)

The painkillers make really good sense from a military point of view. I feel as though it should have included a small knife as well.

Where would the Dutch be without their chocolate sprinkles!

:)

Thanks for posting.

Haha, these are chocolate cigarettes actually. Seems they are a perfect fit for the film cannister thingie

If I'm informed correctly paracetamol makes your blood thinner.
The Ibruprofen is (for the same?) and with little water to fend of headache or for long marches (E&E?).

I would have thought he'd be carrying a knife/bayonet as part of his normal kit :)

True, most of them carry a multi-tool.

uhmm Ahnjo, the black box in the top pic says paracetamol, but I can not make out the second line and the one with the pink "candy" says vitamine, too but again I can not read what the middle line says.
Can you enhance or enlarge the pics?

Ron,

2nd line says "Immodium"
3rd line I can't read

and the one with the pink "candy" says vitamine, too but again I can not read what the middle line says.

The middle line says "Bouillonblok"

He apparently re-arranged his kit.

Can you enhance or enlarge the pics?

Can't enlarge them, this is it.

Don't forget to check the linkies, some nice stuff in there.

HTH :)

Aspirine is an anticoagulant, paracetamol is not (it will only blow your liver if abused). Threfore paracetamol and NSAID's (like ibuprofen) are better in a survival/combat situation.

The chocolate use is obvious: use it to polish the underside of a beer can so you can use it as a firestarter... KCT don't eat chocolate, they just raid the countries where it's made.

Yup asprin is a blood thinner hence heart patients taking it like warfarin, paracetamol as well as being a pain killer will also lower body temperature and can be handy for folk with a fever, though maybe best not to give to a hypothermic patient.
