Morning Bushcrafters,
For sale is a Dutch military double hooped bivi shelter made by Carinthia - it's the military version of the Carinthia Observer (Heinnie link to the production version: https://heinnie.com/carinthia-observer-plus and link to another description of this military version here: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/carinthia-observer-sniper-bivvy-bag-467034632). Do note the substantial differences between this two hooped design and the much more common single hooped design.
This would be an absolutely ideal stealth camping set-up, given the low profile design, Goretex and inbuilt zippered mozzie screens. Weight of 1894g including its compression bag and poles, and from my measurements I estimate its packed volume at 8.77 litres. It has two points of entry, one which L zips like a sleeping bag along the body of the bivi and then up into the hooped section, and the other which is the observation 'door' out from the head of the bivi. This observation door also has a smaller horizontal zippered section for use with scopes and binos. The double hoop design gives you a good bit of head room and shoulder space when sleeping so material is kept nicely away from your face, and the openings let you gain ventilation with mozzie protection too, or to seal up behind a cozy Goretex barrier if the weather turns (if you do seal up completely, of course you'll need to prepare for condensation). Or open it all up and get the bivi-at-one-with-nature experience. This one is size L, I'm 6ft and put my 40L pack and boots inside the shelter with me when I used it, there's sufficient length to do so. You could combine this bivi with a tarp to give yourself extra living space too when out in the woods.
I'm selling as I'm raising funds for a two person tent for a trip, which is getting more and more expensive as the kind folks on here keep suggesting new models to look at!
This bivi shelter is in really very good condition, it was grade A when I sourced in from a military surplus store and I've used it twice. I washed it with NikWax Tech Wash and then TX.Direct wash in after its first trip out, and there may be some dried earth on the underside from its most recent trip out, but I've brushed off all that I could find before posting this.
SOLD Asking £230 which includes UK delivery and any payment fees.
This is a cash raising exercise, so no trades please unless it's towards a Tarptent Scarp 2 or Kuiu Storm Star 2.
