Just wondering if anyone has come across any DIY VAWT designs?

I’ve seen very simple ones made from strips of oil drums

Did they work in normal wind conditions or just when it was heavy going? I guess thats the thing - you want something accessible enough to be made by the everyman ( easier now with the 3D printer technology ) but will also possess the engineering balance between actual efficiency versus occasional efficiency. You want something that is going to be 'relatively' fine tuned enough to work in most conditions.

What efficiency?

There’s quite a few ways to make a wind turbine but the more efficient the better. Savonius style, ugrinski, possibly others….

Another is printing then I’ll see if I can make it spin. First test on a nail is good! Probably be distracted by something else shortly though….
