Did anyone see the moon last Wednesday

Did anyone notice anything peculiar about the moon last Wednesday. I'm in the Cardiff area, and two other people from work noticed it too, so it wasn't just my dirty contact lenses!

The moon looked normal, but around it there was a massive black perfect circle with the black sky being even blacker. The bottom of the circle was just above the horizon. It was weird.

Did anyone else see it? Can anybody explain it?

Called a Moondog; caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.

(you get sundogs too)
