For those of you lucky enough to live up North and know where your local
Boyes store is www.boyes.co.uk - they do 3 diamond sharpening stones for £9-99.
Coarse, fine and extra fine and all are 6 inches by 2 inches. Not sure
how the quality compares to DMT, but I used the fine at the weekend on a well
worn Helle edge and it did the trick in a couple of minutes. Coarse looks like it
would re-grind severely abused chisels and the like no problem. Extra fine
seems more like a robust strop.
Anyway, each stone could be cut to provide four 3x1inch stones for use in the
field. Fine and extra fine could be glued back to back for a double sided stone.
Bit of a bargain methinks.
