Probably the last camp on this year, so I allowed myself the luxury of loading gear for 4 nights, 22nd to 25th into my van, although to be fair I did take the tent stove and a supply of firewood as I was unsure of a supply at camp.
A very isolated farm set on a Headland was the destination and I was soon set up with plenty of daylight left on the 22nd.
New England lays many miles away to the left out of this photograph.
I'm a beginner with hot tents, but now age allows me some flexibility to wimp out in the time of the Holly King, so the seasons don't rule my nights out.
This is the only tent I have ever owned in which I can stand up. A strange feeling, I felt like a lost soul in a Auditorium
although it was listed as a 2/3 man tent, not a Marquee..
On the 24th a sea mist blew inland and was heavy enough to form a fine rain with which the tent chimney patch dealt very well, just a few drips soon vapourised on the stove.
25th dawned clear and sunny and I spent the day in nearby woodland which was devoid of any human paths, so the day was spent wandering along animal trails instead.
A few scratches but an interesting day. Back in the tent with a brew on and dinner lined up. Don't panic any foodies reading this, it's Chilli Con Carne.....
There, and it's still in date, I must be getting fussy.
