Hello folks!
First may I apologize to Dave, as I should have put this on here sooner to let him see the results, sorry Dave!!
In Feb this year I went on one of Dave's Iron Age Knife Forge courses, and this is the result! Blade forged and tempered on the saturday and then handled, etc on the sunday. Also on the sunday Dave very generously showed us how he makes his superb sheaths, this is the reason I have not posted this up till now, as I had to find the time to make it.:(
Anyway, with the master guiding us this is what I created, which is actually what I wanted!!:D It is 18.5cm overall, and a 75mm blade, which is the width of my four fingers. The blade tapers from 3mm down, and has some file work on the back. The handle is of yew heartwood (had some probs with this, but Dave was great again). The knife will be my necker, as it is amazing how light it is, but has massive strength (down to the forging).
Ive really got the bug now, Dave is a top bloke and if you can make any of his courses or even watch him you will have spent your time and money wisely indeed.
Anyway, thats enough babble here are some pics.

I've got a real hankering to go on one of those courses.

I like that knife; unpretentious, beautiful in its simplicity and no doubt functional. I expect you will find it satisfying to use. Good work on the sheath, too.

That looks great Jacko :) I'm glad you managed to get the sheath made too, it makes the package ;)

When I gave Jacko the materials he (and the others) probably thought I was mad. They were handed a 1/2" round bar to turn into a blade on saturday, then on sunday they got a lump of wood (in one case, literally a log!) to make a handle from. In the woods we don't have bench grinders, bandsaws and pillar drills. All done by hand baby! :D

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and again, welldone! :)
