Hi
I'm new to this site and to the wild camping scene
From what i've heard and read, dartmoor seems to be the place to do it! I'm going down this weekend
Does anyone know of any sites around castle drogo/river teign

Also, places around princetown

I'm planning on doing a couple of walks and bike rides. Ideally they would be locations in woods- just because it love them!
I've had a look on the dartmoor wild camping access page - http://www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk/vimap-only.pdf
but when zoomed in its too vague, and hard to tell details

Any help very much appreciated
cheers

Hi if you contact the Dartmoor NPA they'll send you maps of the areas you can camp in,it's easy to x-reference these to the 1:25000 maps,Brian

I have camped in a little copse called "piles copse" - its a lovely little atmospheric place next to a stream with plenty of trees.

There were a few fire scars there last time though, left from ignorant campers so think it is used a fair bit.

Google earth is your friend.
I have been planning a trip to dartmoor for a 5 day walk and fishing.
you can look on your 1:25000 and then check it out on google earth in great detail.
