I have made some dart heads from bone and antler to be mounted on hazel shafts. The heads are alot lighter than the broadheads i usually use. despite the taper of the shaft I am worried that the head will be too light and cause the dart to fly in that wierd porpoise motion. If i use a whole load of adhesive and sinew wrapping will i make the weight up to a decent level?
advice?,...hints?
p.s. any advice on making antler easier to work with?

I always use water when working bone and antler, preferably hot. Dip the bone or antler into the water every now and then and it will work more easily.

As long as the arrows are correctly spined, it doesn't matter how much the tip weighs.

But to compensate: Use a longer shaft than you usually do, that will both lower spine as a heavy point would, as well as adding weight to the tip.

Also, some groups made the arrowpoints of bone and antler huge (as in long and slender).
