I got stuck in my workshop over the weekend and I had fish fingers, soup and even a nice cottage pie cooked on the top of my woodburner (not at the same time!) :) very nice it was too, especially simple as I didn't have any cooking kit with me, just an old metal biscuit tin, some kaowool (laid it over the tin to create an oven for heating the cottage pie) and a bit of metal mesh (for grilling the fishfingers on).

Of course I could've used the gas oven in my main workshop, but where is the fun in that?!

We had one at my gun club outdoor range years ago
Was always an urgency to get to the club first on a sunday morning to get the fire going and then cook bacon butties
Am salovating at the thought of it now
on cold days ( heavy snow etc ) we had it glowing to keep us all warm
very fond memories of wood burning stoves

They make great baked spuds

and a slow cooker, I bring the stew to boil on the electric and tranfer for simmer.

No doubt there are better ways

There is nothing quite like a Potjie full of Venison stew left on the woodburner with a pot of coffee while out in the woods for the day.

Great to come home to.:D
