Hi Guys,

First post, go easy!

I have purchased the below compound bow for my little boy, problem is I need to set the bow to the grow with you setting. It looks like I might need a bow press to do this?

Does anyone have any experience with these bows?

Can anyone recommend somewhere with a bow press near me?

I live in Glasgow, Scotland.

Thanks in advance!

There are ways to change the set up without a press on many compounds, but it can be dangerous so I won't try to describe it. Best thing would be to find a local archery club, somebody there will have a press

It depends on the bow if you need a press, and whether you're changing draw length or weight. Mine needs a press for draw length, but not draw weight. One of the guys at my club has to change the cams to change the length, but most of the others can change their lengths with just an allen key.

I whole heartedly second the suggestion to find a club. They'll teach maintenance/setup, plus safety and technique. I wouldn't doing anything like what I'm doing without the advice if our coaches.

There are some compound bows that can have draw weight adjusted without a bow press (mine doesn't need a bow press to adjust although does is string is being replaced etc) but, as Dave suggests there is a big potential for things to go bad real soon.

There are a few clubs in the Glasgow area such as http://www.glasgowarchers.co.uk/ and https://sites.google.com/site/giffnockarchers/

There's not much in the way of archery shops that I'm aware of in the Glasgow area sadly. I know there is http://www.mrmarchery.co.uk/ who might be able to point you in the right direction. Glasgow Field Sports (attached to Glasgow Angling Centre) up in Possil sell some archery equipment but it's limited and not sure whether they have staff/equipment to assist.
