Compo ration apple flakes and condensed milk

Anyone else remember this combo ?

The condensed milk came in a tube, the apple flakes were heated in aluminium mess tin over a hexi cooker.

I'm going to bring some to the moot..

They were ace !! That and bacon grill with a good dollop of cheese possessed on top

Ahhh but we civvies bought "Hax" apple flakes.

Only people of a certain age will remember them

Rather like "Rise and shine" powdered orange "juice"

I've just realised I'm in danger of sounding like a nostalgic old fart or worse still a walt... moving swiftly on...

Were these issued about the same time that Mafeking was relieved ?

It was the oatcakes that I used to love, I couldn't eat enough of them. I still have a can of matches and sweets from a 10 man pack, it must be thirty years old by now.
