Common Spotted Orchids

Hi folks,

A couple of shots of Orchids for you.

These plants are only a few feet apart yet appear to both be Common Spotted Orchids, well at least they do to me. I find it odd that two examples of the same variety should differ so within such a short distance. I guess it's just down to genetic difference within the variety rather than PH or other local conditions causing a difference.

Any thoughts?

Some orchids seem to hybridize at the drop of a hat.

I think they do it for fun just to confuse us.

I know a patch with only two actual species that look like a dozen different types.

Nice Northern Marsh orchid! We don't get them down here, only the Southern, which aren't so richly coloured.
