To go with one of my "Small gods" Woodspirit type carving, one of my friends wanted a "goddess" to keep him company...
I call her "Ayla"...the finish is deliberate and she was carved only using the knife shown, from wood from our woodpile :)002.jpg006.jpg

Really like that Mr Fenna, the mother figure being one of the earliest human representations ever give you such a link to the past.

Have you seen the Orkney Venus that was discovered in 2009? Such a rare find.

I have not seen the original - but when we were on Orkney earlier this year every tourist shop seemed to have repros of "The Westrey Wifey" in the form of everything from keyrings to pendants :)
When I get some more Old Red Sandstone I may try carving one as well :)

I did a lol at the mini axe wound. First name should've been Ginette, Ayla would make a nice second name.
