I am planning on getting the golite hex tipi, it is just the colour i need to consider. i saw a green one once and the shade of green was close to neon green. Is this the standard shade? It also comes in yellow which may be a duller shade than the neon green. The yellow I am willing to consider, easier to find in the dark. I currently use a bivibag and tarp enjoying waking up with the light on my face. The tipi is just so asthetically pleasing. Any thoughts to help me make up my mind.

thanks

Jamie

Forest green is quite unobstrusive, apart from the reflective tabs on each of the corners.

The forest green is a really tacky, almost luminous green. I hate it. The yellow is better actually, because at night with alight on inside it glows a lovely colour and looks really warm and welcoming.

So definitely yellow for me - the green in minging......

Surely, the green isn't *that* bad (I've got one)

Mind you, I've got a green and orange check Swanni as well, so folks of taste and discretion may disagree :lmao:

I've got the Hex 3 and its in Forest Green which I find quite unobtrusive and far from luminous. Same as in Waynes pic above. When I bought mine it was forest green of sun orange!

Excellent and versatile tent by the way. I'm gonna buy a tentipi next...

Check em out. Expensive, but worth it I think...

my hex 3 is dark green - not luminous or neon by any stretch of the imagination, not even bright - perhaps there's some colour variation dependant on year bought or something?

got a tentip varrie 7 canvas the other week - now theres a tipi. I'll still use the golite though great wee tent and versatile too., perfect for a quick pitch for the night or carrying in somewhere.

The website picture isn't anywhere near luminous and the guy selling them tells me they now come a bit darker than the pic.....I'll know soon.

I guess the colours must've changed then. The forest green that is saw years ago was genuinely luminescent - I'm not making it up, honest. That's why the owner swapped it for a yellow one.

The darker they get, the better, 'cause they did used to be 'orrible.

Hi Stu, when you find out let me know if they are on the Dark'er Side please as im getting one, cheers dear ;) (yes i know ive got a tentipee but i want one lol)

In fact bring it along on one of our camping trips, I'd like to have a look ;)

If it's any help, when I spoke to the supplier he said that the height at the centre is approximately 5'6" and the floor area approximately 65 sq ft......from which he calclated the radius (door to centre) as about 4.5'. (He's got a maths degree :lmao: )

Its plenty big enough for me and my gear (I'm only 5'8" though). I also use the inner tent for comfort depending on the weather which makes a nice addition. It helps a lot with space (or at least the ease with which you can move around) if you don't use the pole and hang it on a line using the top loop.

Like somebody else already said, I'm buying a tentipi (though don't know if i can stretch to a Varrie, probably an Arran for me) to use when weight isn't an issue, but the Hex 3 is superb if you have to carry your tent/shelter with you on a trek. Its incredibly light, you can improvise various things with it and it packs down really small. its why I bought it in the first place as I'm planning on doing the coast 2 coast in it this year.

I want to ask you guys about your tentipi's, but to save hijacking this thread I will post a new one if you could do me the favour of putting your thoughts in it...

Cheers
Geoff

I'm 6 foot 2 inches tall and though it's OK inside I would have preferred a bit more room - there's plenty of space but the diameter wasn't big enough for my liking.
I am 6foot tall and so i reckon it should be just the job for one person atleast i would have thought!
