I think it's a wiccan thing, although I know a few who practice wicca and don't hang rabbits from trees.

.......They do it with sheep round here. (No joke!!)

perhaps someone's been "exercising" their greyhounds, but why hang it from a tree?

To stop the dogs getting at it...while they put the lead on .then as its naughty now to take hare with dog they had to make a bolt for it....intending to drive back for it....only later to change their mind ?

I think someone found a dead hare then thought it would be amusing to sit it in a tree or prehaps a dog walker who wanted to put it out of their dog's reach.( they love rottting corpses)
If it was course hunting then in all probability it would've been taken home.

could be a raptor kill ... buzzards will often do it if theyve been spooked off their meal so other predators cant get it. see if its there later...

don't see many buzzards around here, but plenty of red kites.
