Coke Bottle handle

Ive tried to make a handle just like the woodlore clones and originals have but without success.

Are there any tutorials out there ?

Im using mostly hand tools- as in no machines because i do not own any at the moment

Any good recommendations ?

If you have one to copy - (or perhaps you could draw the profile that you want in plan and side elevation) then use a profile gauge or carefully cut cardboard former. With gentle removal of the high spots, you'll get there in the end.

I have to admit that most of my knife handles are done by eye and spend a number of months being trimmed and re-profiled before I'm totally happy with them.

I use a set of measurements along the spine and profile to that then round over till it feels right

front of scale 14mm
behind center pin 20mm
at rear pin 14
front of lanyard 20mm

these are the measurements i use for a basic medium thick handle

the profile ie remove the black bit square then round over to the tang profile

i use a linisher for my handles, seems to work well and keeps everything nice and even, all you need is a steady hand.
