My Woodie is looking a bit tainted with black. Any advice on how to clean it? I've already tried the slurry from a fine grit and a nagura stone?

You could try the finest emery you can find, or fery fine wire wool. Is it a patina, or is the metal going ginger? The patina will protect the blade from rust to a certain degree, it may be worth leaving it that way. I also find that carbon blades with a patina don't leave that "Lick a 9V battery" taste after prepping food.

Strop with autosol paste, or another metal polish compound like Peek, Brasso etc.

Another idea is that you could also splash out on one of those tuff-cloths, think they are about £8 each. They are pretty good at cleaning up blades and they pritect it from corrosion as well.

Or clean it up using a metal polish like Scott suggested and then treat with mineral or camelia oil to prevent future corrosion, oxidisation or whatever you want to call it.
